    Paul R. Julian Papers

    The Papers of Paul R. Julian consists of documents dated from 1962 to 1978. Dr. Julian's research and work for the National Center for Atmospheric Science (NCAR) comprises the bulk of the materials. He was involved with climate change research and early forecasting methods. The collection includes task group materials, correspondence and memoranda, conference materials, research files, publications, figures, newspaper clippings, and photographs.

    UCAR/NCAR Reference Collection

    The UCAR/NCAR Reference Collection provides background on UCAR/NCAR facilities, laboratories and programs, and projects over several decades. The subject files include articles and news clippings, brochures and pamphlets, fact sheets, telephone directories, and photographic prints. The collection also contains video recordings of lectures and events, as well as public outreach videos. Also present is a small number of exhibit panels from past Archives exhibits.

    Richard A. Anthes Papers

    The papers of Richard A. Anthes document his scientific, administrative, professional, and advisory activities during his decades at UCAR and NCAR, as well as during his years at the Pennsylvania State University and the Naval Postgraduate Academy. Most of the collection consists of paper-based textual materials, including correspondence, memoranda, reports, articles and publications, research materials, lecture notes, and teaching materials. A small amount of audiovisual material and several artifacts are also included in the collection.

    Laboratory of Atmospheric Sciences (LAS) Records

    The Laboratory of Atmospheric Sciences (LAS) Records document LAS lab-level and program-level reporting and planning, as well as the administrative and research activities of a selection of scientists and their programs. These include J. Doyne Sartor, Edward Zipser, and Douglas Lilly. This collection also contains many time-lapse cloud films created by the Cloud Physics program, as well as anemometer records documenting wind conditions at several Boulder-area sites in the late 1960s. Also present is one box of microfilms from the 1968 Barbados Experiment and BOMEX.

    Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Laboratory (MMM) Records

    The Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Laboratory (MMM) Records document the field projects, research activities, and administration of MMM and its predecessor lab, the Cloud Systems Division (CSD), in the 1980s and early 1990s. The collection includes records documenting staff members' work on the National STORM Program. Also present are records from CSD director Edward Zipser's prior work on the GARP Atlantic Tropical Experiment (GATE) and other field projects.

    National Hail Research Experiment (NHRE) Records

    This collection consists of the records of the National Hail Research Experiment, an experiment aimed at making a contribution to the question of the operational and economic feasibility of hail suppression. Records include budget information, correspondence, newsletters, planning documents, research proposals, reports, and weather modification licensing materials. / Selected materials from this collection have been digitized are available in the NCAR Library's digital repository, OpenSky.
