This collection contains material related to Karyn Sawyer's work in the Joint Office for Science Support (formerly the International Projects Office). The collection includes planning documents for the First GARP (Global Atmospheric Research Program) Global Experiment (FGGE) and GATE (GARP Atlantic Tropical Experiment). Also included is an early NCAR manual which includes a 1963 foreword by Walter Orr Roberts as well as updates and supplements that cover the period 1965-1974. The collection also contains photographic materials from international field campaigns including eclipse experiments in Indonesia and India, slides from Guangzhou, China (TOGA - Tropical Ocean and Global Atmosphere Program) and Honolulu, Hawaii. Also included are slides from FASTEX (Fronts Atlantic Storm Track Experiment) in Ireland. The Photograph and Slides series includes many travel photos in addition to photos of field projects. The collection also contains a 16mm film called MONEX: The Monsoon Experiment and a 1981 award for the film from the Council on International Nontheatrical Events.
