    Walter Orr Roberts Collection

    Stephen Schneider Nuclear Winter Papers

    The Stephen Schneider Nuclear Winter Papers document Dr. Schneider's work in understanding the environmental impacts of a nuclear war. The collection focuses heavily on using climate models to inform the theory of nuclear winter, and offers an interesting window into science and policy. The collection consists mostly of correspondence and clippings, but includes reports, conference proceedings, and draft papers as well.

    Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere- Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere Response Experiment (TOGA-COARE) Records

    The Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere Response Experiment (COARE) was designed by an international group of scientists as an integral part of the Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere (TOGA) Study. TOGA-COARE brought together scientists and support staff from 20 nations. The experiment combined oceanography, meteorology, and computer climate modeling to better understand the effect of tropical warm weather regions on the tropical ocean-global atmosphere system. / UCAR managed TOGA-COARE, the second largest field program since GATE, with the establishment of the TOGA-COARE International Project Office in Boulder in 1990. Over 150 UCAR/NCAR staff were involved in the project. / The TOGA-COARE Records consist of budget information, correspondence, plans, reports, protocols, ship reports, meeting minutes, and handwritten notes. Meeting minutes and correspondence offer a window into the complexities of managing and executing a massive international field project.

    Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Collection

    This collection consists of the personal papers of UCAR/NCAR scientists who served as Lead Authors, Co-Authors, and Contributing Authors to the Climate Change 2007 - The Physical Science Basis, the contribution of Working Group I to the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Materials include articles, calendars, chapter drafts, correspondence, powerpoint presentations, notes, and photographs. / This is not an official archive of the IPCC; rather it is a collection of items voluntarily donated to the NCAR Archives by UCAR/NCAR scientists interested in preserving the historic record of climate science. Access is available in the NCAR Library's digital repository, OpenSky.

    Office of Interdisciplinary Earth Studies (OIES) Records

    This collection documents the organizational activities of the Office of Interdisciplinary Earth Studies (OIES) from its creation in 1986 until its dissolution in 1994. The collection is organized into eight series and primarily covers the planning, activities, and resulting publications of various workshops, conferences and meetings held internally or with partnering institutions.     Paul R. Julian Papers

    The Papers of Paul R. Julian consists of documents dated from 1962 to 1978. Dr. Julian's research and work for the National Center for Atmospheric Science (NCAR) comprises the bulk of the materials. He was involved with climate change research and early forecasting methods. The collection includes task group materials, correspondence and memoranda, conference materials, research files, publications, figures, newspaper clippings, and photographs.

    Richard A. Anthes Papers

    The papers of Richard A. Anthes document his scientific, administrative, professional, and advisory activities during his decades at UCAR and NCAR, as well as during his years at the Pennsylvania State University and the Naval Postgraduate Academy. Most of the collection consists of paper-based textual materials, including correspondence, memoranda, reports, articles and publications, research materials, lecture notes, and teaching materials. A small amount of audiovisual material and several artifacts are also included in the collection.
